Journal 6 -A conference and a bus tour

Join me for a recap of the International ACAC conference in Boston, a hub for college counseling connections, followed by an insightful bus tour through Ohio, revealing impressive and value-driven universities.

International ACAC in Boston: Connections and Conferences

For as long as I have been in the college counseling business, I have been a member of the International Association for College Admissions Counseling (formerly OverseasACAC). Each summer this wonderful organization has its summer conference at which large numbers of college/university representatives and school, and independent counselors meet to take part in some educational sessions and some networking. It is a great time to renew friendships and make new ones. This year’s conference was once again at Northeastern University in Boston, USA. It lasted a very quick three days and involved many breakout sessions and three fairs. Two for counselors to visit the tables of university reps and one for university folks to visit schools. These are always extremely busy, loud and tiring events involving a lot of talking!

Touring Ohio: Value, Variety, and Standout Schools

After the conference I was very happy to take part in an organized bus tour of Ohio. We flew from Boston to Cleveland and after a weekend of social activities which included a baseball game, we began our tour at Oberlin College. Thereafter we crisscrossed the state visiting a range of universities and colleges and I have to say I was very impressed with what Ohio can offer a student. Most of the institutions were very good value, not being excessively expensive like some in the US, and certainly offered no less in the way of courses and facilities.
